Today is Johnny Cash’s Birthday and I want to remember him not only as a singer, but also as an actor.  I am amazed that he did quite of movies and appearances on TV shows through the years even he lent his voice to “Coyote,” a character that appeared on “The Simpsons.”  In this post I have  collected some clips of Johnny showcasing his work as an actor.

Five Minutes to Live 1961

Watch the complete movie:

The Night Rider 1962

A Gunfight 1971

Intro to the movie, song performed by Johnny Cash:

Kirk Douglas and Johnny Cash shoot out (spoiler if you haven’t seen the movie):

“Columbo” Swan Song (1974)

Johnny Cash singing “I Saw The Light” on a “Columbo” episode:

“Little House on the Prairie” The Collection (1976)

Murder in Coweta County (1983) (TV)

The Baron and the Kid (1984) (TV)

“North and South” Episode #1.5 (1985)

The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James (1986) (TV)

The best I could find was a TV special about the movie:

Stagecoach (1986) (TV)

Watch a clip form the movie, with John Schneider and Johnny Cash:

“Renegade” The Road Not Taken (1996)

There was a clip of Johnny’s appearance on the episode on YouTube, but it was removed and I couldn’t find it somewhere else.

“The Simpsons” El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer (1997)

It seems the title of the episode is actually in Spanish, the translation to English will be something like this “The Mysterious Trip of our Homer.” I watched this episode dubbed to Spanish and I didn’t know Johnny Cash did the voice of “Coyote.”  Click below to watch the clip in English.

Simpsons: Homer’s Trip

“Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” …. Kid Cole (4 episodes, 1993-1997)

The clip below is from the episode “The Most Fatal Disease.”
