Deep in the woods in an old cabin, a man receives the visit of an unexpected guest.
A story I had shelved, and I have used Google Flow to bring it to life.
Here it is the story:
Deep in the forest stands a small, dilapidated cabin. An elderly man lives there, alone, with neither family nor friends. It is a cold, damp night, and he has a fire burning in the hearth to keep warm. Outside, the wind whispers through the trees, and it seems as though nothing could disturb the peace—until an unusual noise breaks the night’s serenity.
Startled and curious, the old man goes to the door to listen. At first, he hears nothing, but as he turns back, he catches the faint sound of fluttering wings. He opens the door and sees nothing at first glance, yet the peculiar sound persists. Looking down at a leaf, he spots a tiny creature, nearly frozen. He gently cups the creature in his hands and carries it inside, carefully placing it before the fireplace so it can warm up and rest. Exhausted himself, the old man goes to his small bed to sleep.
The fire in the hearth is blazing brightly when a strange dark mist appears in their place. The old man wakes to find this dark mist filling the cabin; the dark mist draws closer, almost completely enveloping him. Gasping for air, he collapses to the floor—but at that moment, a brilliant light appears and absorbs the dark mist. When the old man can finally focus his eyes, he sees a fairy standing before him; she smiles in gratitude for his kindness and vanishes, but not before restoring his cabin. No longer cold or weary, the old man stands in the doorway, smiling as he bids the fairy farewell.
